United Russia asks govt to consider food price restrictions
MOSCOW, Apr 9 (PRIME) -- The United Russia faction in the State Duma, parliament's lower chamber, asked the government on Thursday to work on a mechanism to limit food price growth at 10% for each chain of the supply step, head of the faction Sergei Neverov said.
"We offer to make a decision to restrict the prices for food or some categories, similar to what has been done with the medical devices and pharmaceuticals," Neverov said.
The official said that not only prices for lemons and ginger but other products as well have risen recently.
"Retailers explain the price rise by actions of suppliers but the producers did not raise their prices that much. It turns out that this is a result of activities of unscrupulous intermediaries," he said.
